Analysis: Hollowell ended his recruiting process earlier than many other prospects. He didn’t have a lot of offers, but that was mostly due to him being high on the Wolverines for a very long time, which can be attributed to the pipeline that Michigan has been able to create at Cass Tech HS. Hollowell doesn’t have the size of a dominating defensive back, but he makes up for it with his desire and skills. If he were to have added an extra 2-3 inches, there is no question that he would have been a blue chip recruit. With that said, he’ll likely struggle with jumps balls against taller receivers, but Hollowell will give you 100% every time despite that. Beyond that though, Hollowell is a fine player and will likely have a good career at Michigan. No questions asked. His 40 time isn’t blazing, but Hollowell looks very quick on the football field, which is always better than just having a fast 40 yard time. What makes up for some of the deficiencies with Hollowell’s height too is that he’s deceptively strong, which will help when he’s in man coverage and making tackles. His hands are good as well. Overall, Hollowell is a good pick-up for the Wolverines and would likely benefit from a redshirt season during his freshman year.
